Colour In Fashion Uni Project
i made 2 outfits for my client Miss Twinkle (my alter ego) for going to an oriental film premiere and also a ball in Japan, for spring/summer 2010.
i predicted the recession would be over so we would all be wanting to go on exotic holidays and live out our dreams, our fantasies, so went through a fairytale and magical forest route, with the Japanese influence, and a huge dragonfly influence because they mean so much to me (friendship and good luck).
the fabrics cost me a fortune!! i nearly died of shock, but they're totally worth it

dress - purple satin back crepe, lined in polyester habutai, side zip, side splits, bottom painted black to fade like dirt when walking through forests, with blue satin back crepe and purple dragonfly satin brocade (from Honk Kong) detail on the back. its got some of my "if i was a dragonfly" poem written on it
waspie - red shot taffeta, boned at the seams with silver eyelets and red ribbon, lined in purple dragonfly brocade so is completely reversible
kimono - blue satin back crepe with cuffs, collar and lining all in purple dragonfly satin brocade (from hong kong), and cuffs and collar lined in red satin. floor length sleeves, arching in the shape of statues from the japanese gardens at Newstead Abbey, and buttoned with black beaded frogs. scoopneck for the "sexual" aspect of the true kimono. with some poetry written on it
